The City of Sikeston is accepting applications for public safety officer. The position of public safety officer is cross trained in both police and fire functions. The Department of Public Safety uses the FireTEAM Testing System, developed to measure specific aptitudes important to the occupation of fire fighter and emergency response personnel for entry level applicants. The components consist of a human interaction test, a mechanical aptitude test, a math test, a reading test and a report writing test. This procedure is waived for lateral hires. All applicants are required to successfully complete a medical examination, drug/alcohol screen, psychological examination, and a functional employment test.
